The whole school will be having Art lessons in Term 1 and 4 with Mrs Davies.
All classes at Jindivick P.S. have art sessions. 4/5/6 on Monday, F/1 on Tuesday, and 2/3 on Wednesday.
Our teacher, Joan Price, (who also teaches Grade F) is a wonderful art teacher. She teaches us all about the different medias, techniques and also about the unique styles of famous artists. We do a lot of projects that link to what Mrs Price does in her spare time, like her trips to the beach, China, Peru and her knitting.
During Term 4 Grade 4/5/6 will be working with clay, using our local artists Sue Acheson and Jessie McLennan as inspiration.
Joan and the Jindi Kids Exhibition
Here are some of the fabulous art works exhibited at the Red Tree Gallery in July. Thanks to Mr Laurie Collins for the use of his gallery and his enthusiasm and support.
She is busy preparing for our Art Exhibition from the 1st to 26th of July, with an opening on Saturday 2nd July. Please mark it in your calendar!
Grade 2/3 have been working on drawing skills. Our latest topic was The Hat in the Hat.
Grade F/1 made Autumn pictures using the rubbing technique and rolling food dye on top.
Grade4/5/6 developed their use of line by drawing interesting patterns to make the hair on a portrait.
On 29 October we joined in a video conference with many other schools. The program was run by the Ballarat Art Gallery where the Archibald Prize paintings are on display. We were shown some of the entries and joined discussions about them. We then got to sketch a live model with instructions on how to draw facial features.
Here are some of our efforts.
During Term 3 we have been working with threads and textiles. Finger knitting has been very popular. Many twisted cords have also been made. Other skills that have been introduced include fraying, running stitch, sewing on buttons, felting, spinning, weavingand knitting.
The Grade 2/3 made a Minion picture using many of the skills they have learnt.
In May each class visited the Jindivick Sculpture Show.
Grade 4/5/6 spent one lesson sketching their favourite indoor sculpture.
