Grade Foundation, in 2019, started with 10 students. We are learning to read, write and count.
On October 5th our school went on 2 buses to Melbourne to Quantum, a specialist Maths and Science centre. We tested liquids to see if they were an acid or a base, used QR codes to learn about habitats, mixed chemicals to make bouncy balls, experimented with balloons and watched the presenters make ‘elephant toothpaste’. We loved all the activities but our favourite was the ‘elephant toothpaste’
It’s Spring and our daffodils are blooming all around our school garden.
On May 5th we put a Hyacinth bulb in a special vase and put it in the cupboard where it is dark and cold. It will think it is Winter and when we take it out it will think it is Spring and grow a flower. We will be able to see the roots grow down into the water in the vase.
Grade Foundation, in 2016, started with 8 students, 4 boys and 4 girls. We are learning to read, write and count.
Grade Prep in 2015 has 10 students, 5 boys and 5 girls. We are learning to read, write and count.
The stick insects in our room are growing very BIG!!! We took them out to change their leaves. Some of us held them and let them walk on our clothes.
Bradley liked having the stick insect crawling up his arm.
Number Line Game
On May 21 we went to Melbourne to see The Golden Age of China exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria.
We also went to The Children’s Garden in the Royal Botanic Gardens. We had fun playing there.
In May we planted daffodils in our front garden.
We have put a hyacinth bulb in a vase in the cupboard. We are going to watch it grow. We will take it out of the cupboard in a few weeks and it will think it is Spring.
Grade Prep is taught by Mrs Price, who also teaches art. There are 9 students in Preps. They do lots of fun things throughout the day, such as: reading, maths, mat activities, writing stories, using the tiPads and computers as well as many other things. The children are also involved in developmental play activities. These activities have learning focii linked into other curriculum areas and the children are encouraged to use social interaction and co-operation as learning tools.
